Event Details

All events are scheduled in buildings with accessible entrances, powered doors, and limited-mobility parking. We will utilize the audio-visual technology available in these rooms. Presentations and documents will be in English, translators are available by request. Conference materials will be virtual documents and will be screen-reader compatible. If accommodations would make participation easier, let us know.

Individuals with accessibility needs are encouraged to participate in events hosted by the Kansas Data Science Consortium. If you require an accommodation in order to participate in this event, please contact Emma Howard (e.howard@ku.edu). Accommodation requests made less than two weeks prior to the event may not be possible to fulfill in time, we will try our best. Please reach out with any requests or concerns.

During the afternoon poster presentations a panel of judges will be conducting evaluations. At the end of the conference winners will be announced for the following categories: Best Innovation, Best Visualization, Best Presentation, People's Choice, and Best Overall Poster.

We will provide coffee, water, and snacks throughout the day. Individual classrooms may not permit food and beverages. The keynote speech will be accompanied by a catered lunch. The menu will include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Kosher and Halal options available upon request. For questions and requests regarding dietary restrictions and/or allergies please contact Emma Howard (e.howard@ku.edu).

The 2025 Kansas Data Science Conference is supported by the National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) RII Track-1 program Adaptive and Resilient Infrastructures driven by Social Equity (ARISE), award #2148878. Through EPSCoR, NSF builds research capacity and workforce development in areas in the country receiving a lower percentage of federal support.

Parking for the conference will be available for free in surface lots on KU campus. Closest to Gray-Little Hall are red lots 54 and 72. If you wish to park in the Allen Fieldhouse garage, directly to the east of Gray-Little Hall, be aware that daily parking rates apply. For questions regarding parking, please consult the KU Parking Regulations or email Emma Howard (e.howard@ku.edu).

We are thrilled to feature presentations from students who have been working on data science projects as part of our community data labs and other real-world data projects. All students are encouraged to present, and can register for the conference. Instructions for making these posters will be shared in class for affiliated students.

Attendance of the full event is not mandatory. Our program is designed so students who are presenting in the afternoon but not attending any other sessions should be able to drive in that morning and drive back after their presentation, if they so choose. We encourage participation in the full event, but understand there may be scheduling conflicts. To be considered for judging, presentations will be due to KDSC by April 18th, 2025.

Questions can be sent to your instructors or to Will Duncan (williamduncan@ku.edu).

We encourage participants in workshops to bring laptops. KU Guest Wifi is available across campus and is open to all attendees who need it.

Conference materials will be published digitally and available online. Print copies will only be made by request. If you need a print copy, please contact Emma Howard (e.howard@ku.edu)

This conference is scheduled to permit day-of travel but will also provide rooms the night before for attendees who would prefer to spend the night. Hotel lodging information is included in the conference registration. Questions should be directed to e.howard@ku.edu.

We recommend carpooling with other attendees when possible. Student presenters are encouraged to reach out to their instructors for assistance coordinating ride sharing.

Registration is requested for this event. Lodging and dietary requests may not be available if requested too close to the event date. Please register here!
